Solar lanterns or pico solar lights are basic solar lighting products that help hundreds of millions of people transition away from inefficient kerosene lanterns, candles, and battery torches. All our lantern products are illuminated by super-efficient LED technology, which ensures the provision of more light per rupee spent. These are very simple to operate over-the-counter (OTC) products, with no technical know-how required for operation. We deal in 2 kinds of lanterns:

1) Basic lanterns that provide just 2-3 modes of lighting

2) Multi-functional lanterns that have mobile charging capability along with multiple light modes.

According to a survey by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an average Pakistani living in an off-grid area spends approx. Rs. 1200 per month on lighting and mobile charging. This is a huge amount considering the GDP/capita in these underdeveloped areas, even more so because these households are paying much more per lumen for highly inefficient lighting. Our products aim to mitigate this problem. Quality-verified by the IFC, all our products come with a 24 month warranty, and result in savings of up to Rs. 16000 ($150) per year.

Biogas is a clean gas produced by anaerobic digestion of organic waste, and is similar in almost all properties to natural gas. The gas is produced and gathered in a ‘dome’ when bacteria decompose waste in a bio-digester (or biogas plant). If passed through a purification plant, biogas is highly flammable can be burnt just like natural gas. Given Pakistan’s immense cattle population and the enormous amount of agricultural waste produced every year, it is surprising that biogas has not been a commonly used fuel in rural Pakistan. Germany for example, with a cattle population of less than a tenth that of Pakistan, produces almost 5000MW of electricity from biogas.

Given the fact that Pakistan actually has one of the world’s biggest untapped biogas potential in the world, we offer turnkey biogas solutions for both residential customers and commercial enterprises. Currently, we provide construction and maintenance services for plants ranging from 10m3 to 100 m3. Anyone with cattle/buffalo ownership of 3 or more heads qualifies for our basic plant. Our smallest plant produces enough gas for the twice-a-day cooking needs of a 8 person household. As the plant sizes get bigger, owners can use the gas for heating purposes, and for running diesel engines or power generators. Because of low affordability in rural areas, we work with micro finance partners to offer customers to pay the cost in easy installments.

One big tragedy of our time is the fact that hundreds of millions of households still use dirty solid fuels to cook their daily meals. Firewood, kerosene, dung cakes, and agricultural residue are burnt in open stoves and traditional clay stoves. These conventional stoves are not only thermally inefficient, but also emit toxic fumes. This smoke causes respiratory diseases, and is responsible for over 100000 deaths annually in Pakistan.

Clean cook stoves are one of the best and most economical way of making cooking clean. These stoves still use conventional fuels, but eliminate the toxic smoke that traditional stoves emit and they pack their investment within 4 months due to higher thermal efficiency!
